Woman gunned down outside Negros Occidental jail

BACOLOD City – A 41-year-old woman was killed in a daylight shooting just outside the Negros Occidental District Jail compound in Purok Province, Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday afternoon, June 6.

Police identified the fatality as Ma. Lowela Foster, a resident of Barangay 2, Manapla, Negros Occidental.

According to the Bago City Component Police Station, Foster and her companions had just left the correctional facility after visiting an inmate. The group was leaving the premises aboard a rented tricycle when two suspects riding a black motorcycle suddenly intercepted the vehicle and opened fire on her.

Initial investigation showed that the assailants utilized a caliber .45 firearm during the attack. Eyewitness descriptions noted that the motorcycle driver was wearing a yellow-gold sweatshirt while the back rider was wearing a black T-shirt and a black bonnet. Neither of the suspects wore helmets.

Foster suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the left side of her jaw and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, the gunmen quickly sped away from the area. Police have since launched a hot pursuit operation to track down the suspects while investigation was ongoing as of press time to determine the motive behind the killing. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
