BACOLOD City – A woman was fatally shot by an unidentified gunman at Lopez Subdivision in Barangay 3, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The 24-year-old Maribeth Soriano was a resident of the village, police said.
From what the Victorias police gathered so far, Soriano was sleeping in her room when informed by her live-in partner’s father that someone was looking for her.
Soriano went out of the house to check but the gunman was apparently waiting for her there.
Soriano was shot in the abdomen around 9:05 p.m. on Jan. 22.
She was rushed to the Ikaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital in Victorias City but was later transferred to a hospital in this city where she was pronounced “dead on arrival.”
Recovered from the crime scene was a spent bullet of a .45-caliber pistol.
The suspect’s identity and the motive in the killing remain unclear as of this writing. Investigation was on going./PN
