BACOLOD City – A 21-year-old resident of Barangay Pahanocoy was hit on the penis during a shooting in the village.
Johnrey Patricio sustained another gunshot wound on the right thigh, a Police Station 8 report showed. But companion and fellow victim Mark Cliff Mellegin, 22, had more on various parts of the body.
Both were taken to Bacolod South General Hospital but later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Their shooters fled after the incident around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday and remain at large as of this writing.
Patricio and Mellegin were binge-drinking with Richard Peraren and a 17-year-old boy during a fiesta in Purok Bantud when one of the four unidentified suspects approached the minor, slapped him twice, and took his cap and fled, Police Station 8 investigation showed.
Wanting to get back at the suspects, Patricio and company boarded the tricycle driven by Mellegin and chased the suspects.
Both groups reached Phase 4 of the NHA Village and had a confrontation. One of the suspects drew a firearm of unknown caliber and fired at Patricio’s group, Police Station 8 said./PN
