BORACAY – Three local tourists were arrested for fake reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results on July 14 at around 9 a.m.

The tourists were all from SIlang, Cavite.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Don Dicksie De Dios, Malay, Aklan police chief, they received a phone call at around 11:55 a.m. from the Aklan Provincial Tourist Validating Office that three tourists who entered Boracay Island through the jetty port in Barangay Caticlan, and checked-in at a hotel presented fake test results.

Immediately, Malay policemen proceeded to the hotel and arrested the three.

Based on the electronic mail from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine to the Aklan Tourist Validating Team, the results of COVID-19 RT-PCR test of Benjamin Pastrana and Luisa Mingi were not used by their institution, while the laboratory result of COVID-19 RT-PCR test of Marichu Pastrana was not valid.

The tourists were transferred from the hotel to the Kalibo quarantine facility.

A case of violation of Republic Act 11332 and Article 175 of the Revised Penal Code will be filed against them./PN
