4 suspects fall in 2 drug ops

ILOILO City – Two simultaneous antidrug police operations captured four drug suspects – two of whom were students – in Jaro district.

On Oct. 9, the following were detained at the Jaro police station:

* Paulo Alvarez, 22, of Barangay Cuartero, Jaro and a graduating university student

* Franz Edward Arias, 22, of Barangay Sinikway, Lapus district and a sophomore Information Technology student

* Bryan Reyes of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro

* AXL Floyd Guaty of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro
Alvarez and Arias were first to be arrest around 9:30 a.m. in Barangay Cuartero, said Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).

The operation’s subject was actually a cousin of Alvarez, said Bermejo. But Bernardo Chavez, 26, managed to escape.

An undercover police officer bought from the suspects a big sachet of shabu valued at P16,200.

Two hours after, Guaty and Reyes were caught in Barangay Benedicto, Jaro after selling four sachets of shabu to a poseur buyer for P1,100.

Bermejo said all the four suspects were connected to the Prevendido drug group and got their shabu supply from Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district and Barangay Desamparados, Jaro.
The four suspects face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
