ROXAS City – Five police officers in Capiz have been recognized for arresting a drug suspect in this city.
The following were conferred the Philippine National Police Medal of Merit (Medalya ng Kagalingan) yesterday at Camp Martin Delgado, regional police headquarters, in Iloilo City:
* Inspector Wilfredo Venus Sr.
* Police Officer 3 Staney Allanic
* Police Officer 3 John Aleligay
* Police Officer 3 Ernesto Bautista Jr.
* Police Officer 1 BG Ardee Alam
These officers caught drug suspect Roberto de la Cruz in a buy-bust operation on Oct. 6 at Rustic Lodge in Barangay Banica.
De la Cruz was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, Capiz police director, claimed de la Cruz had long been engaged in the drug trade.
“He stopped when he learned the police were targeting him under Oplan Double Barrel, but later we learned he was receiving drugs,” Nacion said./PN
