5 injured in Aklan two-motorcycle collision

AKLAN – Five individuals, including two teachers and two minors, were injured in a two-motorcycle crash along a curved road section in Barangay Rosal, Libacao town.

Three of the victims remained hospitalized as of press time due to serious injuries, according to the Libacao Municipal Police Station (MPS).

Initial police investigation revealed that two teachers, aged 60 and 35, were being transported uphill to their school aboard a motorcycle driven by the 18-year-old alias “Dok” on Wednesday morning, September 16. Meanwhile, a second motorcycle carrying two students, aged 14 and 16, was traveling downhill.

Upon reaching a sharp curve, the downhill motorcycle lost control and collided directly with the teachers’ oncoming vehicle.

Personnel from the 1st Aklan Police Mobile Force Company and the Libacao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded to the scene and rushed all five victims to the Libacao Infirmary Hospital.

Due to the severity of their injuries, Dok and two minors were subsequently transferred to the Aklan Provincial Hospital in Kalibo town for further treatment. The two teachers who sustained minor injuries opted not to be confined after receiving medical care.

Libacao police said both parties are scheduled to meet and have expressed a mutual willingness to settle the incident amicably./PN
