BACOLOD City – The city council is waiting for the appointment of Marlon Solidum from the office of President Rodrigo Duterte to occupy the seat vacated by the late councilor Elmer Sy who passed away in June.
Solidum was recommended by the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), his political party.
A councilor candidate for the May 2022 elections here under the Grupo Progreso of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Solidum said NPC has eight members here with Cong. Greg Gasataya as the district chairman.
Last week, seven NPC members (excluding Solidum) discussed the vacant seat at the city council and Solidum’s name was recommended.
Pao Sy, daughter of Elmer Sy and also a candidate for councilor in the upcoming elections, is now a member of NPC. But she is running with Asenso for Better Bacolod led by businessman Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
Earlier, Pao signified interest to fill the seat that her father vacated, but according to Solidum, she was not yet a member of NPC during the meeting of the seven members.
Panay News tried to reach Pao for her comment but to no avail./PN
