ILOILO — A top drug personality was arrested in a law enforcement operation on March 27 in Barangay Pescadores, Guimbal, Iloilo, for possession of illegal drugs worth approximately P2.5 million.
Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6), in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Division 6 (RID-6), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 6 (PDEG SOU 6), and the Guimbal Municipal Police Station, arrested the suspect—identified only by the alias “Kent,” 39, a resident of the area, at around 9:20 p.m. through the service of a search warrant.
Police said the suspect has a previous arrest for the same offense.
Seized during the operation were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and five knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu, along with buy-bust money and other non-drug items.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), said the arrest followed more than two months of surveillance, case buildup, and validation of information provided by concerned citizens.
Ligan commended the operating units for the successful operation, underscoring PRO-6’s continuing commitment to intensify its campaign against illegal drugs.
The suspect is currently detained at the Guimbal Municipal Police Station and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
