ILOILO — Police operatives arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized over half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Pani-an, Balasan town on Saturday, June 20.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Mac-Mac,” is a 32-year-old electrician from the same barangay.
The drug bust was carried out at around 6:45 p.m. by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by its officer-in-charge, Police Lieutenant Patrick John DC Alabado.
Confiscated during the operation were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, which included the buy-bust item, alongside the buy-bust money. The seized contraband weighed approximately 91 grams, with an estimated standard drug price of P618,800.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan commended the operatives, reiterating the provincial force’s relentless pursuit of drug personalities.
“Ang inyo mga Ilonggo cops ang wala nagakataka sa pagpangsikop sa mga indibidwal nga may kahilabtanan sa iligal nga droga,” Razalan said in a statement.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Balasan MPS. He faces criminal charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
