ANTIQUE — Authorities confiscated a fishing boat and various equipment valued at around P83,500 during an anti-illegal fishing operation in Barangay Nato, Anini-y town.
Personnel from the Anini-y Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the local Bantay Dagat, intercepted the illicit fishing activity on Friday, June 19, after discovering that the vessel involved was unregistered. The crew was allegedly operating in direct violation of Municipal Fishery Ordinance No. 2001-10.
Data released by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that the seized assets included the unregistered fishing boat valued at P80,000 and hook-and-line fishing gear worth P3,500. Additionally, police recovered approximately 12 kilograms of assorted fish with an estimated market value of P2,600.
