AKLAN – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested the Top 1 Most Wanted Person in Kalibo and Top 4 Most Wanted Person in Aklan during a manhunt operation in Sitio Paraiso, Barangay Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan, on Wednesday afternoon, August 5.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Nath,” 18, a farmer and resident of Kalibo, was apprehended at about 2:50 p.m. by operatives of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station.
Police said the arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 3, Kalibo, Aklan, on Aug. 4 for three counts of statutory rape under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1, in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended.
The court did not recommend bail for the suspect’s temporary release.
The accused is currently under the custody of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station while awaiting commitment to the appropriate court.
PRO-6 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño commended the operating team for the successful arrest and reaffirmed the regional police’s commitment to tracking down wanted persons.
“We will not allow anyone with pending criminal liability to remain at large. We will continue to intensify our manhunt operations to ensure that every wanted person is brought before the courts. Every arrest is a step toward a safer community and the swift delivery of justice for victims,” Tuaño said.
He also urged individuals with outstanding warrants of arrest to surrender peacefully and face the charges against them.
Tuaño said PRO-6 will continue to strengthen intelligence-driven manhunt operations and coordination with other law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest wanted persons throughout Western Visayas.
He also encouraged the public to support the campaign by providing credible information that would help authorities bring fugitives to justice./PN
