BACOLOD City – A resolution urging the City Health Office (CHO) to inspect and test the potability of water refilling stations was passed by the city council on Wednesday.

It also asked the City Mayor’s Office to close “those who are in violation of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 856, otherwise known as the Sanitation Code of the Philippines.”

Councilor Em Ang, author of the resolution, said residents have been complaining through mainstream and social media that employees of some water refilling stations handling the refilling process are not compliant of the sanitation code.

There are also numerous complaints from people who experienced stomach sickness after consuming water from water refilling stations, Ang added.

“To ensure the safety and protect the health of residents, it is necessary for the sanitary inspector of the CHO to conduct an inspection and test the potability of all water refilling stations,” the lady councilor said./PN
