BACOLOD City – The members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here are asking the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) and the PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation (PrimeWater) to provide them a written explanation in relation to their poor water services.
The request was addressed to BACIWA General Manager Mona Jardin and PrimeWater Branch Manager Farah Jenny Monteclaro following the passage of a resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella during the conduct of the regular session on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The councilor cited, “it has come to the attention of the members of the SP that numerous resident-consumers of this city are complaining of the services being provided by BACIWA – PrimeWater, that the water is tainted with color, mud, and sand particles, and the unpredictable availability of water supply in some areas here.”
On July 2020, a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) was signed between the BACIWA and PrimeWater for a 25-year term P6.8-billion project that commenced on November 2020.
Earlier, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez launched in his Facebook page the “Isugid kay Mayor,” to accommodate his constituents’ complaints in relation to water, electricity, as well as garbage in the city through QR codes and links.
According to Benitez, everyday his office is receiving complaints and some of them were already sent to the concerned utility firms because it has reached hundreds.
“Sa Sept. 6 naka-schedule ang aton nga meeting sa BACIWA para mahatagan kita sang sabat sa aton mga ginpadangat nga reklamo,” the mayor said./PN
