BACOLOD City – The Department of Health (DOH) is eyeing to convert the two coronavirus disease (COVID) facilities in this city into Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service (BUCAS) centers.
The said facilities are located in barangays Alijis and Vista Alegre.
Mae Cuaycong, special assistant to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, said the DOH-Negros Island Region (NIR) already inspected the two facilities.
BUCAS center is a modern healthcare facility dedicated to providing immediate medical care and outpatient services.
Cuaycong said it focuses on addressing non-life-threatening conditions that require urgent attention, offering an alternative to emergency room visits.
The DOH, added Cuaycong, proposed that this would be a collaborative effort between the city government, DOH and the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
Additionally, BUCAs will be staffed by skilled healthcare professionals from the CLMMRH. It will ensure quick and efficient diagnosis, treatment, and patient care, she said.
“The proposed centers emphasized accessibility, affordability, and convenience, catering to individuals seeking quality medical care without the long waiting times typically associated with hospitals” said Cuaycong.
She added the DOH-NIR will submit its report to the city mayor and it would be up to the mayor to decide on the improvement of the facilities./PN
