BACOLOD City – A company will present a renewable energy project before the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Aug. 9.
In a letter to Mayor Evelio Leonardia on April 20, Vistagreen Corp. president Alfred Opiniano proposed to install a small waste-to-energy processing project, said Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.
The city processes 50 to 1,000 tons of waste per day.
To eliminate the need for more dumpsites and landfills, Vistagreen will introduce a “pioneering technology” that transforms waste into synthetic petroleum products, gas and carbon neutral pellets via a high-temperature thermolysis gasification process, Opiniano said.
Vistagreen will install for free the solid waste processing plant, which the city government may use – under certain terms and conditions – for 15 years.
The company shall also operate and manage the plant, which will work 24/7 and offer jobs to 60 to 80 people, Opiniano said.
It was a “good” offer. Vistagreen asked for only a 5,000-square-meter area for the processing plant, Familiaran said./PN
