ILOILO City – A taxi figured in a crash in Barangay Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo. Four teachers on board it and the driver were hospitalized.
A Toyota Vios driven by Bryan Bitancur, 27, of Parc Regency Subdivision in Pavia collided into the cab head-on, according to Chief Inspector Jonathan Pinuela, municipal police chief.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. on Aug. 1.
Bitancur overtook a tricycle and went to the lane where the taxi was running the opposite direction, Pinuela said.
Sent to various hospitals in this city were Mary Jane Paguntalan, 45, of Barangay Palaca, Miag-ao, Iloilo; Ivy Nono, 45, of Barangay Damilisan, Miag-ao; Rosalie Legaspi, 42, of Barangay Potrido, Miag-ao; and Ma. Theresa Palmos, 48, of Barangay Lamberto, Miag-ao.
The Forbes taxi driver – Flordesito Efumdo, 35, of Barangay Inangayan, Santa Barbara town – was hospitalized, too.
Police said the teachers came from a seminar in Jaro district.
Officers arrested Bitancur, who was unhurt, and detained him at the Pavia police station.
The Vios driver was facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries./PN
