BACOLOD City – Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized more than P2.2 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two high-value individuals in separate drug bust operations in the city.
On December 7, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated an estimated 230 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,564,000 in Purok Narra-Baybay, Barangay 8.
The operation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old female suspect identified by the alias “Gel,” a resident of the area. Police said the operation was launched following intelligence information provided by a confidential informant indicating that the suspect had been actively distributing illegal drugs in several barangays.
Confiscated from her were six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, two knot-tied plastic packets containing the illegal substance, buy-bust item, marked P1,000 bill, and non-drug-related items.
The suspect is currently detained at Police Station 2 and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Two days later, at around 12:26 a.m. on December 9, Police Station 4 arrested another high-value target at Purok Cheriza 2, Barangay 27.
The suspect, known as alias “Ramon,” 51, single, and a resident of the area, was apprehended by a team led by Police Lieutenant Annabellee Abalayan, officer-in-charge of the station.
Seized from the suspect were an estimated 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P680,000.
Ramon is facing charges for violating the same provisions of RA 9165.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reiterated its strong stance against illegal drugs, vowing to intensify intelligence-driven operations to dismantle drug networks and safeguard communities.
“These operations demonstrate our unwavering dedication to building safer, drug-free communities across the region,” PRO-NIR said in a statement.
Authorities assured the public that anti-drug efforts will continue without letup as part of their commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect residents across the Negros Island Region./PN
