ILOILO City β A community-based program initiated by the Philippine Armyβs 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) through its 301st Infantry Brigade benefited residents of three far-flung villages in Tapaz, Capiz.
The Peace, Healing and Reconciliation (PHR) program, in collaboration with the 12th Infantry Battalion, the 3rd Civil-Military Operations Battalion, and the local government unit (LGU) of Tapaz, brought government services to barangays Nayawan, Lahug, and Tacayan on Dec. 2 to 4.
βThis initiative is more than the delivery of services; it is a testament to our collective resolve to heal, reconcile, and unite communities long affected by conflict. Through the Peace, Healing, and Reconciliation Program, we rebuild trust in government, strengthen partnerships, and lay the foundation for stable, secure, and empowered communities,β 3ID commander Major General Michael Samson said.
The PHR program served 263 individuals who availed themselves of medical check-ups, basic consultations and essential medicines; 56 for dental services, including tooth extractions and oral hygiene education; and 50 residents availed of free haircut services; as well as 16 young boys for free circumcision.
Additionally, 80 children benefited from the feeding program; 50 families received gift packs containing food items and basic necessities; and five households received assistance for the repair of their electronic appliances.
βWe are deeply grateful to our partner agencies and volunteers whose dedication made this program possible, and it is through this spirit of collaboration that we can truly achieve healed, reconciled, and resilient communities not only in Tapaz but across the entire region,β Samson added.
The 3ID also deployed the PHR team in selected communities in September this year to foster peace and reconciliation and establish a stable, secure, and empowered community. (PNA)
