Buenavista LGU starts 4-day workweek today

BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – Beginning today, the municipal government here will observe a four-day workweek.

Mayor Eugenio Reyes, in Executive Order No. 18-2022 adopting a “compressed” workweek, cited Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 18, Series of 2020 authorizing local government units (LGUs) to adopt flexible work arrangements.

The scheme would somehow ease the financial burden of municipal government employees caused by fuel price increases, said Reyes.

“The rising cost of fuel adversely affects the cost of living of our constituents in general and of our employees in particular,” lamented the mayor.

The four-day workweek would “promote cost-efficiency in the operations of the LGU and result to savings on the part of our employees and additional quality time with their families,” according to Reyes.

Beginning today, the operating hours at the municipal hall from Monday to Thursday is for 10 hours daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. exclusive of one hour break.

However, the compressed workweek shall not apply to the following offices whose employees will continue to report under the existing regular work schedules:

* Municipal Social Welfare Services Office

* Municipal Health Office

* Local Economic Enterprise Office

* Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office

* Municipal Engineering Office (Field Workers)

* Municipal Agriculture Office (Field Workers)/PN
