MANILA – Cignal HD Spikers averted disaster with a come-from-behind 15-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Foton Tornadoes in the 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena.

Erica Wilson dropped 26 kills, four blocks and three aces to finish with 33 points on Thursday night.

With the win, the HD Spikers halted its three-game losing skid to move up to fifth place. It now has a 6-6 win-loss record.

Ana Artemeva chipped in 14 points while skipper Rachel Anne Daquis also stepped up with nine markers for the HD Spikers.

After losing the opening set, the HD Spikers relied on Wilson to cruise to easy wins in second and third frame.

In the fourth set, the score was tied at 17-all when the HD Spikers went on an 8-3 run to clinch the win.

“Iba ‘yung energy nila ngayon. Palagay ko nakapag-isip sila. Hindi kasi kami magkaintindihannoong time na natatalo kami,” said HD Spikers head coach Edgar Barroga.

Milagros Collar and Courtney Felinski had 25 and 21 points, respectively, for the slumping Tornadoes which absorbed its ninth loss in 10 matches.

Meanwhile, PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters recovered from a harrowing loss to Petron Blaze Spikers on Tuesday by taking down Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors in straight sets, 25-15, 26-24, 25-13.

Grace Lazard led the way with 19 points from 11 attacks, six blocks, and two aces while Kendra Dahlke added 15 markers off 10 spikes, four aces and a block for the Power Hitters (7-5)./PN
