MANILA – Head coach Tim Cone and the management of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings will be reaching their hands to Greg Slaughter after his recent announcement of taking a break from professional basketball shocked the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) fans’ world.
In a message to the media on Sunday, Cone said that he was not aware of the Filipino-American giant’s plan to halt his basketball career after his contract expired with Ginebra last month.
“I am out of town at the moment and I don’t have any news on Greg at this time. We plan to speak with him and his agent over the next couple of days,” he said.
Despite the former Ateneo Blue Eagles center’s plan to forego his contract renewal, the Ginebra management still holds his rights unless he is unconditionally released or traded to another team.
Slaughter, Ginebra’s No. 1 pick in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft, pulled off a shocking announcement on Saturday evening that he plans not to sign a new deal with the Kings, as he will prioritize on developing his ball game.
The shocker of the four-time PBA champion came amid rumors of him being the subject of the trading block with Northport Batang Pier in exchange for Christian Standhardinger.

Aguilar expressed his sadness over the former’s decision to take a break from
the league.
“Gonna miss you brother,” wrote Aguilar along with a heartbreak
