MANILA – Stephen Curry had another scorching game as Golden State Warriors walloped Oklahoma City Thunder, 147-109, in the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association Season on Wednesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
After dropping 53 points in their win against Denver Nuggets on Monday, Curry torched the Thunder with 11 three-point conversions to finish with 42 points in just 29 minutes. He had eight assists and six rebounds.
Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Kent Bazemore added 17, 16, and 15 markers, respectively. Draymond Green added triple-double 16 assists, 12 points, and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (27-28).
From a slim 36-32 lead in the opening quarter, the Warriors widened the lead in the second period with baskets from Curry, Wiggins, Bazemore, and Green for a 75-54 halftime edge.
Golden State continued its avalanche of points against Oklahoma City in the third quarter with Curry dropping 23 points as the lead grew to 125-81.
Darius Bazley finished with 28 points while Moses Brown had double-double 18 points, and 12 rebounds. Svi Mykhailiuk and Tony Bradley contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Thunder (20-35).
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers (38-17) survived an endgame run by the short-handed Brooklyn Nets (37-18) for a 123-117 win and took the solo first place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Comfortably ahead at 109-88 after two free throws by Tobias Harris, the 76ers suddenly saw its lead trimmed to 111-114 by a furious rally of the Nets’ reserves.
Free throws by Ben Simmons and Fukuan Korkmaz widened the 76ers’ lead to 118-113. After the Nets cut the deficit to 115-118, Philadelphia sealed the win on free throws by Joel Embiid.
Embiid finished the match with double-double 37 points and 17 rebounds, Harris added 26 markers, while Simmons and Shake Milton had 15 markers each for the 76ers.
