ANTIQUE — The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique will integrate a road safety program into the Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies) curriculum beginning in School Year 2026-2027.
Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr. said the initiative aims to help prevent road accidents involving students by increasing their awareness of traffic rules and responsible road use.
“We know that our learners are traveling to and from their homes and schools, and to prevent any untoward incidents, we are integrating the road safety program into their Araling Panlipunan subject,” Servillon said in an interview on May 15.
He said the program will educate students on the importance of securing a driver’s license and complying with land transportation laws and regulations enforced by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Servillon added that the integration of road safety lessons is part of DepEd Antique’s broader efforts to promote student welfare and instill responsible citizenship among learners.
The initiative is expected to equip students with practical knowledge on road safety and encourage them to become more cautious pedestrians, passengers, and future motorists./PN
