COMING from “status quo” and “laboratory”, QuoLab existed for architects, interior designers, furniture designers and artists from Iloilo, Antique and Manila to gather in this first premier design fair in Region 6.
QuoLab Iloilo 2017, a collaborative space for creativity and creation, will house well-designed products by different individuals today, Oct. 9, 7 p.m. at the Ground Floor of Festive Walk Parade, MegaWorld Business Park Iloilo.
Coming from different locations in Iloilo, Antique and Manila, these “designpreneurs” aspire to redirect local pride back to home-grown designers and artists by giving design and innovation a shot, stimulating the local design environment here, and enriching the local identity through incorporation of materials native to the community.
The said space just beside Book Latte Café will be filled with individual pieces woven by architects and artists as well as interior and fashion designers who consider themselves as part of a growing population of passionate start-ups in the region and beyond: interior & furniture designer Ron Miranda Baba; interior design group LaHuBre Designs composed of Joan Reyes and Pam Laserna; photographer and visual artist Shiela Molato; architect-entrepreneur & furniture designer Stephen Peñaranda; graphic & interior designer Ron Matthews Espinosa, visual artist Bryan Liao, architect & fashion designer Goldwynn Navarro; and architect & furniture designer Daryl Refuerzo.
Quolab Iloilo is also an avenue of innovation, education and integrity through open and mutual “quolaboration” and responsible design practice. It also focuses on being responsive to the aesthetic concerns of the community while engaging with the visual arts. The space will be open to the public after its opening today until Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m./PN
