DOE sets energy efficiency, conservation drive for Capiz

ROXAS City – An information, education and communication (IEC) campaign on the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) for Public Information Officers in Capiz will be conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) today at the Training Hall of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) building, Governor’s Mansion, here.

“This aims to create a collaborative effort in disseminating information on the role of the public sector on the benefits of energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) and in providing guidance for the government offices on their roles and responsibilities in establishing fundamental EE&C policies, plans, programs and activities in their localities and agencies,” according to DOE Visayas Field Office OIC director lawyer Russ Mark Gamallo.

The information campaign, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency Regional Office 6, will have presentations about GEMP for local government units, EE&C in government buildings and fuel conservation tips.

Capiz’s Gov. Fredenil Castro was invited to grace and deliver a message during the activity.

A separate orientation on GEMP is also scheduled by the DOE for the City Planning and Development Office at the Roxas City Hall and Provincial Planning and Development Office at the Provincial Capitol here.
