BACOLOD City – An early resolution on former Isabela Municipal Treasurer Nenette Escarda is being seen.
Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Alberto Nellas Jr. said Escarda chose to submit a position paper than undergo a formal investigation.
Escarda is facing administrative charges for alleged grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, and malversation of public funds, and is still under a 60-day preventive suspension.
Since there are no hearings on her case, Nellas said they will submit their formal investigation on March 28, and a resolution may be released after a 30-day deliberation based on the evidence that will be presented.
If found guilty, Escarda could be dismissed from the service and penalized with perpetual disqualification from holding public office and forfeiture of benefits.
On Jan. 21, Escarda reported to the police that her house in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City was burglarized.
A total of P3.8 million in bank checks and P2.6 million in cash were taken, she said./PN
