ROXAS City – He tried to shoot the man whose motorcycle accidentally hit his car.
The 59-year-old Fernando Catalan of Barangay Manyupit, Maayon, Capiz is now facing charges.
Catalan was detained at the Pontevedra municipal police station.
Motorcycle driver Ramon Alex Nolasco, 40, of Washington Street, Iloilo City placed him under citizen arrest, a police report showed.
Nolasco tried to overtake Catalan’s car while negotiating a road in Barangay Talongajog, Pontevedra around 2 p.m. on July 26, but his motorcycle accidentally hit the latter vehicle, police said.
This enraged Catalan. He pulled over, got off his car and confronted Nolasco while armed with a .45 pistol. He tried to shoot the latter, the police report showed.
The two scuffled for the gun. Nolasco eventually disarmed Catalan.
Catalan’s gun was unlicensed. Aside from grave threat, an illegal possession of firearm charge may be filed against him, police said./PN
