ILOILO City – Fire engulfed a sedan while on the road yesterday in Barangay Buhang, Jaro district.
Those on board – driver Anthony Consing, 51, of Barangay Railway, La Paz and his wife – escaped and were unhurt.
A short circuit due to loose electrical wires in the engine ignited combustible material in the car, Bureau of Fire Protection investigation showed.
A police report stated that Consing was driving the Toyota Corolla around 6 a.m. when smoke, and then later a small blaze, emanated from the engine.
The couple managed to quickly leave the car.
Investigators estimated the cost of damage at P100,000./PN
