Motorists may get an early holiday break at the pumps, as fuel prices are poised for a rollback next week amid easing global supply pressures, according to Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas.
Based on this week’s Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) and foreign exchange averages for the first four trading days, Bellas said diesel prices could go down by P1 to P1.20 per liter, while gasoline may drop by P0.60 to P0.80 per liter in the week of Dec. 22, 2025.
Bellas said global oil prices had softened on oversupply concerns, with markets factoring in the possibility of a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire that could eventually restore disrupted Russian oil flows.
He said refined fuel prices were further weighed down as refineries returned from maintenance turnarounds, easing tight supply conditions.
He likewise cited expectations of higher exports from China, following renewed crude import quotas and weaker global gasoline demand during the winter season as key drivers of the anticipated price decline. (Emmanuel John B. Abris © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
