IMPORTED onions and carrots should only cost P120 per kilo, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said Friday, December 5, as government sets suggested retail prices (SRPs) on these agricultural imports.
DA spokesman Asec. Arnel de Mesa said the P120 per kilo SRP applies to both red and white onions.
He said the DA also allowed importation of carrots due to limited supply.
“Makinis na makinis at malinis ang imported na carrot,” he said in a DZMM interview.
The government has also set SRPs for both local and imported pork, at P370 per kilo for liempo and P330 per kilo for kasim.
Meanwhile, De Mesa said cases of African Swine Fever have dropped from some 1,000 cases in the third quarter of 2024 compared to only 100 to 200 cases during the same period this year.
“Safe na safe kumain nang baboy,” he said.
The DA also said galunggong prices are currently at P300 per kilo for imported and P400 for local galunggong.
