ILOILO City – A man wanted for rape and ranked as the No. 8 most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested in a coordinated police operation in this city.

The 55-year-old alias “Kalbo,” a resident of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district, was apprehended along Ledesma Street, Barangay Liberation, City Proper district, at around 4:19 p.m. on June 10, through the strength of arrest warrants issued by Judge Globert J. Justalero of Branch 32, Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region.

The arrest was made possible through a joint effort led by the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), with the collaboration of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Intelligence Unit, Police Station 4 (PS4) and PS4’s Women and Children Protection Desk, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6.

The suspect is now in police custody for documentation and legal processing. No bail bond was recommended for the statutory rape case while P120,000 bail was set for the rape by sexual assault charge.

Police Colonel Kim P. Legada, ICPO director, praised the operating teams for their successful coordination and vigilance.

“This arrest demonstrates the resolve of the Iloilo City police to ensure that criminals, especially those preying on the vulnerable, are brought to justice,” he said.

Legada also issued a stern warning to other fugitives: “The law has no expiration. You may try to hide, but justice will catch up. Our mission does not end until all wanted individuals are made accountable.”/PN
