KALIBO, Aklan – The provincial government is planning to make a system that will help indigents get immediate medical attention at the provincial hospital.
Gov. Florencio Miraflores bared this plan during the province’s observance of the World AIDS Day at the capitol on Dec. 1.
Miraflores said they are considering an ID system for Aklanon indigents who are included in the list of the National Household Targeting System.
The provincial government will provide the IDs for the indigents to use when seeking consultation or treatment at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital in this capital town.
Miraflores said the provincial government acknowledges that most indigents are financially challenged. He added that the ID system will automatically grant these individuals P5,000 medical aid.
The governor believes that the ID system will “make things easier” for the indigents, who have been recipients of the provincial government’s services.
Miraflores added that the new scheme is a solution to the delays in giving financial assistance.
“If they need financial help, they need not line up anymore,” Miraflores said. (PIA/PN)
