KALIBO, Aklan – Road accidents have been recurring in seven villages in this capital town.
Barangays Andagao, Poblacion, Estancia, Linabuan Norte, New Buswang, Old Buswang and Pook have the largest volume of vehicular crashes from January to September, records from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) showed.
Andagao has the most number of traffic-related accidents with 35 cases followed by Poblacion with 25, the records further stated.
The MDRRMO identified accident-prone hotspots in Andagao.
They include the Jaime Cardinal L. Sin Avenue (or popularly known as Quezon Avenue), the Roxas Avenue Extension and the Toting Reyes Street.
A total of 26 accidents happened in these streets, the MDRRMO said.
In Poblacion, on the other hand, the accident-prone areas are Mabini Street, Roxas Avenue, Archbishop Reyes Street, Veterans Avenue, and XIX Martyrs Street.
In Pook, nine vehicular accidents happened on Crossing Airport-Pook and Pook Highway. MDRRMO said traffic jam is common on these roads.
A total of seven accidents happened on Osmena Avenue while five were recorded on Jaime Cardinal L. Sin Avenue beside Infant Jesus Academy in Estancia.
Barangays Tingaw, Tigayon, Bakhaw Sur, Caano, Briones, Mabilo, and Nalook have at least five accidents each in the first nine months of the year, the MDRRMO said. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
