BACOLOD City – After allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Victorias City, Negros Occidental early yesterday morning, a carnapping suspect was apprehended while his accomplice escaped.
Police arrested 19-year-old John Carlo Laura, a resident of Hacienda Rophildan, Barangay 14, Victorias City.|
Another suspect, identified as Joemarie Esperida Jr., also a resident of the said place, eluded police.
According to the Victorias City Police Station, the victim, 28-year-old Jennibeth Diyo, filed a complaint to their station that her motorcycle, which was parked in front of her home in Gonzaga Street, Barangay 1, was missing and presumed stolen at around 1 a.m.
The police immediately conducted a follow-up operation and they managed to arrest Laura and recover the stolen motorcycle along the city’s Kalantio Street in Barangay 3.
Laura is facing charges for violating Republic Act 6593, or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972./PN
