ILOILO City – A laborer was shot by his drinking buddy in Barangay Malapawe, Calinog, Iloilo
The 34-year-old resident Robert Mondia was recuperating at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district. He sustained a gunshot wound on the chest, a police report showed.
The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Mondia Rommel Legaspi, also a resident of the village, it added.
According to police investigators, Mondia and Legaspi were having a drinking spree when a heated argument ensued between them. This prompted Legaspi to shoot Mondia using a 12-gauge shotgun around 6:40 p.m. on Jan. 17.
It was however not immediately established what triggered the altercation.
Officers of the Calinog police station conducted a manhunt operation against the suspect, who fled after the incident./PN
