GUIMARAS – In anticipation of the influx of tourists, particularly pilgrims, on Good Friday, April 18, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Region 6 extended the operations of sea vessels from this island province to Iloilo City and vice versa.
This comes after the request of the local government unit (LGU) of Jordan to extend the schedule of trips of fiber boats and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels to cater all passengers who would want to witness the “Ang Pagtaltal Sa Bala-an Bukid 2025”.
“This is in relation to the request of the Municipality of Jordan, Guimaras for the extension of day time and night time trips of operators plying the route Jordan Wharf, Jordan, Guimaras to Parola Wharf, Iloilo City and vice versa to cater to an influx of tourists and guests of the “Ang Pagtaltal sa Bala-an Bukid” event on April 18, 2025 to be held in Jordan. The said request is hereby granted,” read part of the letter sent by MARINA-6 director Jeffrey A. Bangsa to Jordan LGU.
The letter further stated:
* The abovementioned operators may start their operations from 4 a.m. and extend their trips until 11 p.m. to 12midnight for RoRo operators.
* Their operations shall be in accordance with the MARINA Region 6 Omnibus Order No. MRO-VI-ORD-25-001 dated March 20, 2025 prescribing that the abovementioned operators shall be operating on a relaxed schedule of trips.
* The operators shall ensure that the vessels, at all times, are fully equipped with distress signal/equipment.
* The operators shall, at all times, comply with the limitations and conditions under their safety certificates./PN
