BACOLOD City – The chief of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) commended his men for their recognition as the top-performing unit in Western Visayas for June.
NOCPPO officer-in-charge Colonel Romy Palgue acknowledged the dedication to duty of the personnel in the headquarters and stations in this province.
“I congratulate them since that translated into (a) good performance evaluation rating,” Palgue said on July 14.
In last month’s Unit Performance Evaluation Rating, the NOCPPO garnered a rating of 86.70, besting seven other units under the Police Regional Office 6.
All eight units were evaluated and rated based on 11 parameters – police-community relations, human resource and doctrine development, intelligence, operations, investigation, plans, research, logistics, information and communications technology, personnel management, and finance.
The NOCPPO performed well in operations and intelligence, placing the unit at number one in the rankings.
Rounding out the Top 3 are the Capiz Police Provincial Office which garnered 86.30 percent and Iloilo Police Provincial Office with 85.70 percent.
Palgue reiterated to his men his slogan “Negrense CARES,” an acronym for Challenge, Admire, Respect, Encourage, and Support each other.
“I pose this challenge to the NOCPPO cops and our very supportive stakeholders on how we can stay on top, not for recognition but (a) safer and peaceful Negros Occidental,” he said.
Palgue, who assumed as Negros Occidental police OIC in the first week of June, had earlier told NOCPPO personnel to stay vigilant and always pray as they continue to face risks in their work as law enforcers.
“We often face risks with the nature of our job as law enforcers. We should be watchful and prayerful,” he said.
In the first six months of the year, the NOCPPO posted a 35.68 percent decrease in the volume of index crimes, also known as the eight focus crimes of murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft. (With a report from PNA/PN)
