BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) director Police Colonel Leo Pamittan confirmed having submitted his courtesy resignation, heeding the call of Interior secretary Benhur Abalos to all police colonels and generals.
In a radio interview over the weekend, Pamittan said he was cooperating with Abalos’ steps in clearing the Philippine National Police (PNP) of errant personnel.
Pamittan added that he is open to any investigation by the review panel set up by the head of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
He also said he and his fellow police directors in Western Visayas also support the steps of the PNP chief as well as Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, who have also submitted their respective courtesy resignations.
Around 88 percent of the police colonels and generals in the PNP have already submitted their courtesy resignations Thursday last week.
A five-member rpanel, which included former police general and now Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong, will review the resignations.
PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. revealed that all police officials who complied with the DILG secretary’s call will undergo a lifestyle check as part of the assessment.
After this, recommendations will be made and forwarded directly to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr./PN
