‘Old grudge’ leads to shooting

ILOILO – A seafarer is being hunted by the Santa Barbara police station. He shot to death a neighbor yesterday in the town’s Barangay Bolong Oeste.

An old grudge may have prompted suspect Rey Gabata to shoot multiple times 45-year-old Felix Soquiño, according to Police Major Raymund Celoso, chief of the Santa Barbara police station.

Around 8:50 a.m., the two were seen arguing on the street.

The victim reportedly told the suspect to pull his gun out. The suspect ran inside his house and came back with a .30-caliber firearm.

Another neighbor, Leonisa Surriga was hit on a leg.

The suspect fled using his car.

Madugay na ina sila may away. Ang victim naga-quarry, kag naga reklamo ang suspect nga naga litik iya pader tungod sa truck nga naga labay sa tubangbalay nya,” Celoso said./PN
