KALIBO, Aklan – The coming months will be hectic for Ati-Atihan festival organizers and volunteers.
Albert Menez, Kalibo Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. chairman, said they are dedicated to devote their time and effort for the planning and preparation of the festival.
The 2018 celebration of Ati-Atihan will be on Jan. 12 to 21.
“It will feature old and new events for locals and guests,” said Menez.
The religious festival includes a nine-day devotional novena, Santo Niño de Kalibo vigil and community visit, dawn penitential procession, Paeapak, transfer of the Santo Niño de Kalibo image, a pilgrims’ mass, and religious dance processions.
Old events included in the plan were the Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan, Kaean-an sa Plaza, Aklan Higante Contest, Hala Bira Ati-Atihan Nights, Aklan products showcase, car shows, motorcycle rally, Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest, Aklan visual arts exhibit, and Ati-Atihan Bazaar.
