Another strong online classical chess competition got underway on July 12 on the chess.com server with eight grandmasters split into two groups taking part.
The event, dubbed the PNWCC Super Invitational, will feature two standard time control tournaments of four players each and six rounds or double round robin.
The first group is called the Summer of Seattle. (SOS) It is composed of GMs Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2764), Le Quang Liem (2709), Jeffery Xiong (2709), and Vladimir Fedoseev (2678).
The other group is dubbed the Rising Stars. The players are GMs Andrey Esipenko (2682), Parham Maghsoodloo (2676), Amin Tabatabaei (2629), and Awonder Liang (2592).
Rising Stars is a Category 16 (average Elo: 2644) event, while SOS is a Category 19 (average Elo: 2715) competition.
The time control for both events is 90 minutes base reflection time plus 30 seconds increment per move starting the first move. The event is organized by the Pacific Northwest Chess Center of Seattle, Washington.
