MANILA – Indian president Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday said he believes good days are ahead for the relationship between his country and the Philippines.
During his speech at the Philippine-India Business Conclave held in Makati, Kovind said both countries have common directions.
“Potential for countries’ relationships is significant. Both are among the fastest growing economies, both are invested in new technologies, innovation and startups,” Kovind said.
Kovind and President Rodrigo Duterte signed at least four bilateral agreements during their talks on Oct. 18.
After the Philippines-India business summit, he met beneficiaries of the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation, a foundation that provides prosthetic legs designed by Indian sculptor Ram Chander Sharma.
He will meet with the Indian community in Taguig City before flying back home.
Kovind is the third Indian president to visit the Philippines since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1949. The last was Abdul Kalam in 2006. (ABS-CBN News)
