
THE PHILIPPINES’ agriculture output grew by 2.8 percent in the third quarter of this year, fueled by crop and poultry production, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
In a report on Thursday, November 6, the PSA said the value of production in agriculture and fisheries totaled P408.94 billion in the July to September quarter.
Among subsectors, poultry was the most improved at 10.6 percent to reach P75.96 billion. Production of both chicken and chicken eggs expanded during the period.
Crop production was valued at P218 billion, a 3 percent increase. Palay output improved by 12.6 percent. Corn harvest, meanwhile, dropped by 2 percent.
Moreover, livestock decreased by 1.9 percent to P60.51 billion, while fisheries dipped by 2.7 percent to P54.47 billion. (Jordeene B. Lagare © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
