ILOILO City – Crimes across Western Visayas in the first six months of this year were down compared to those recorded in the same period in 2021.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) recorded 10,408 incidents from January to June – a 4.06 percent drop from the 10,849 incidents in the same period last year.
Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, regional police director, cited his men.
“Congratulations and continue assessing your respective areas of responsibility and address the peace and order concerns,” Dongbo said.
He also reminded police chiefs to collaborate with local government units and other stakeholders for crime prevention activities.
Incidents other than crimes but still related to peace and order dropped, too, PRO-6 data showed – from 5,926 in 2021 to 5,154 this year.
“Except for the province of Antique that registered a minimal increase of 11 incidents so far this year (358 cases so far),” said Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.
There were 347 cases 2021, said Solis.
Iloilo City topped with a substantial decrease of 42.22 percent or 597 incidents; followed by Guimaras at 13.48 percent or 24 incidents; Iloilo province with 12.04 percent or 155 incidents; Bacolod City with 9.23 percent or 54 incidents; Aklan with 3.96 percent or 19 incidents; Negros Occidental with 2.13 percent or 31 incidents; and Capiz with 0.71 percent or three incidents.
On the other hand, the eight focus crimes also decreased from 1,444 in 2021 to 1,278 this year.
However, the eight-focus crimes in the province of Capiz increased by 18 incidents or an equivalent of 11.92 percent.
