KALIBO, Aklan – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reminded police officers in the province of the “one-strike policy” on stray bullets this holiday season.
A memorandum that the Philippine National Police issued on Nov. 7 said, “The one-strike policy regarding any death or injury resulting from indiscriminate firing on Christmas and New Year’s days will be implemented on all commanders and police chiefs. They will be relieved if the case is not solved within 24 hours.”
PRO-6 spokesman Superintendent Gilbert Guerrero reiterated the memorandum among Aklan police officers.
“Gone were the days we engaged in indiscriminate firing that resulted to the loss of lives. Ang masaklap may buhay na nawawala dahil sa stray bullets kapag may nagpuputok ng baril,” Gorrero said.
Moreover, Gorrero reminded local government units, especially barangays, to assign firecracker zones in their respective areas.
“Maraming paraan ng pagsalubong ng New Year na hindi gumagamit ng firecrackers and pyrotechnics,” he added. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
