Roxas barangay gets LTIA award

ROXAS City – The Barangay Milibili in this city was declared national champion in the Component City Category of the 2019 Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) in Manila.

Barangay Milibili bested Barangay Talaje in Surigao City which ranked 1st runner up and Barangay Cupang in Bataan City which landed 2nd runner up on Friday. It received a presidential trophy and P300,000 cash incentive, according to City Councilor Midelo Ocampo.

Martin Diño, undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, graced the awarding ceremony, Ocampo said.

Barangay Milibili was also adjudged as the 2018 winner of the same category during the LTIA ceremony in Manila last year.

Ocampo was the Punong Barangay when the evaluation in the city category was conducted last year until he won as city councilor in May 2019 elections.

He was succeeded by his first kagawad and now incumbent Punong Barangay Anabelle Roxas, who also attended the awarding ceremony together with the members of the Lupon Tagapamayapa of the barangay.

The awards was established in 1997 as a venue to institutionalize a system of granting economic benefits and providing incentives to the Lupon Tagapamayapa that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes in the grassroots level pursuant to the Local Government Code of 1991.

The performance and accomplishments of the Lupon were evaluated by committee organizers at the national, regional, provincial, city, and municipal level on the basis of efficiency in operations, effectiveness in securing settlements of interpersonal disputes, creativity and resourcefulness of Lupon Tagapamayapa, area and facility for KP facilities and financial or non-financial support provided by the national government, non- government organization and private individuals./PN
