SAN JOSE, Antique – For a still unknown reason, a fisherman was shot in Sitio Banay-banay, Barangay San Pedro.
The 31-year-old Salgee “Kuridoy” Davo sustained four gunshot wounds but survived the attack, police said.
He was taken to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital.
The suspects – San Pedro villagers Denmark “Biboy Banal” Gallido, 35, and Randy Casalan – have escaped, police said.
Officers were still hunting them as of this writing.
Davo was walking to his sister’s house on Oct. 30 when the suspects waylaid and fired at him, police said.
The suspects just left a sari-sari (variety) store after a drinking binge at the time, said the police.
Police records showed Gallido had turned himself in to the police in line with the Oplan Double Barrel, the police-led intensified antidrug campaign of the Duterte administration, but it was not clear when.
Officers were still trying to determine the motive as well as of this writing.
A slug and four empty shells of a .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene./PN
