ST. PAUL University Iloilo (SPUI) and the SPUI Alumni Affairs Office are pleased to announce the upcoming 2025 Soft Skills Summit. This inspiring event is dedicated to promoting holistic student development by emphasizing the critical role of soft skills in preparing for future careers.
Targeted at junior and senior high school students in Iloilo City, the summit on September 2 will feature engaging discussions and interactive activities designed to cultivate essential skills such as communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. The event aims to deepen participants’ understanding of how these skills complement academic knowledge and are vital for success in an increasingly competitive job market.
Seven schools in Iloilo will participate in this meaningful gathering. The keynote speaker, Iloilo’s Vice Gov. Lee Ann Debuque, will deliver a message centered on “Building Foundations for Career Excellence.”
The first resource speaker will be a renowned Soft Skills Training Consultant, widely regarded as one of the most sought-after lecturers in this field, who will combine inspiring lectures with practical experiences to enhance learning.
In the afternoon, Pavia, Iloilo’s Sangguniang Bayan member JP Penol, COO of Iloilo Merchant Marine School, will discuss “Cultivating Soft Skills for a Brighter Future.”
Additionally, Sr. Teresita Baricaua, SPC, the summit’s proponent and the president of St. Paul University, explained that the event aims to motivate students to adopt a growth mindset and prioritize personal development alongside academic achievement. It provides a platform for students to practice real-world skills in a supportive environment, fostering collaboration and leadership.
Ultimately, the 2025 Soft Skills Summit aspires to empower young learners to become well-rounded individuals equipped with the soft skills necessary to navigate future challenges and excel in their careers. The summit will be held at the Marian Theatre of St. Paul University Iloilo.
