CAPIZ – Two houses were destroyed and eight others were damaged by a tornado in Barangay Butacal, Panay, Capiz on Thursday afternoon, August 28.
Panay’s Mayor Jonathan Sonny Besa, in a local radio interview, confirmed that the tornado particularly hit sitios Sitio Bagong Barrio, Buncayao, and Lemon.
Data from the town’s Bantay Dagat and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) showed that 10 families, or around 20 individuals, were affected.
According to the MDRRMC, the tornado occurred with heavy rains.
Mayor Besa added that, fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident./PN
